Deep Summer in the Electric Swamp

Alone Time Gallery, New Orleans, 2025

Featuring Alone in the Electric Swamp, a soundscape by Cristy Michel shehersir

Deep Summer in the Electric Swamp was an immersive installation that merged projected animation, painting, sculptural forms, and sound to explore the screen as a contemporary landscape. Drawing from the tropical ecosystems of the Gulf South and the digital glow of everyday life, the piece blurred the boundaries between nature and simulation.

The installation unfolded across two adjoining spaces, each shaping a different facet of the hybrid landscape. Together, they formed a constructed paradise where technological shimmer and tropical atmosphere merged.

The exhibition also included a one-night live performance, where real-time projections and an expanded sound set by Cristy Michel activated the environment in a more volatile, improvisational state.
